He eased away from the rowdy group and slumped down on the bay walls. Oblivious to the noisy crowd behind him, he drew his knees up to his chin, his soulful eyes intent on the sinking sun.

A consoling arm fell over his shoulders, the hug he would have cherished. They sat together, each seeking comfort in the other’s presence, and finding it.

**afterword: this is a little literary experiment i've been trying the past few days. saw it on some other blog, and thought i'd try to adopt the idea myself. it's free to interpretation and open to suggestion. please tell me what you think. it may seem vague, but that's part of the style, i think.**

fiction may be fiction but are reflections of the author's "inner self" nonetheless....some inner desires...hahahaha...

Glad to hear you liked my short stories. Flash fiction is a lot of fun. Stories under a thousand words are easier to fit into lunch breaks and procrastinating moments. I'm particularly fond of the 55-word challenge, as you can tell from a special page for really short stories. Besides, my attention span is too short for a longer story! ;) You can still fit plot and conflict into something as short as 55 words (or even shorter: I have a 160-char story around here somewhere). Character development's a bit more difficult, but you can always play with longer forms of flash fiction (also known as microfiction).

You might want to check out this flash fiction exercise Yahoogroup I'm on--it's a great source of writing prompts and critiques. Have fun!

haha, nice reactions, for the first one. note: not all the shorts i've written (quite a few, as of now) are about romance blah blah. ang boring ko naman nun kung ganun.

haha, todo vague na nga eh para wala nang isyu-isyu dito. or baka lalo pa nga dahil vague. purely fictional, promise. wahaha. :-D

nung nakita ko ung mga ganitong fiction somewhere, naisip ko nga, hindi talaga ata ako meant for longer forms of writing. mahirap magmaintain ng quality. baka eto na talaga para sa akin. short but very, annoyingly sweet. :-P
